Meet Wayne Hammack, Jan Hammack & Suzy Hammack Bach

Wayne Hammack was looking for a place to spend his retirement years. An avid outdoorsman and sportsman, he was drawn to the beauty of the Hudson's Hope area and its abundant fish and wildlife. After moving to Hudson's Hope in the 1970's, he realized that the town needed quality accommodations, so he built the Sportsman's Inn, which opened in 1974. It has been operated by the Hammack family ever since. Today his daughters Jan Hammack and Suzy Hammack Bach are an integral part of the family business and are proud to continue the tradition of service started by their dad.

Like their father, Jan and Suzy both have a deep appreciation for the wild, untamed outdoors and Hudson's Hope's vast natural resources. Though their business keeps them very busy (especially in the summer time), they like to get outside and have fun as much as possible. They especially enjoy fishing, hiking, biking, kayaking and rock hounding.

Having been in business locally for 40 years, the family has seen Hudson's Hope go through many changes. "We have seen the town boom and bust numerous times," Jan notes. Through it all, the town and its residents have always been resilient. Business owners have remained steadfast and committed to weathering tough times and have tremendous community spirit. The family believes that the town has many wonderful assets, like its natural playground, and spirited community places like Alwin Holland Memorial Park, that will continue to draw people to the area for many more years.
