Founded in 2011, Butler Ridge Energy Services Ltd. emerged from a vision to reduce logistical challenges for local industry and residents in Hudson’s Hope. Recognizing the need for accessible equipment rentals, we set out to create a locally-based solution, allowing businesses and individuals to rent essential machinery without the hassle of traveling to neighboring communities.
Our people are the cornerstone of our business. Comprised of local residents who are deeply integrated into the Hudson’s Hope community, our team understands the unique needs of the businesses and individuals we serve. When clients call our office, they are greeted by a neighbor or friend, ensuring that every request is met with familiarity and an attentive ear.
As we’ve grown and forged relationships with various industries, we’ve invested in a diverse fleet of specialized equipment, including large-scale water transfer equipment, industrial man lifts, and telehandlers. Our offerings extend to potable water delivery, sewage hauling and disposal, septic services—including washroom facility rentals, and general equipment rentals such as yard maintenance tools and small water pump rentals. This comprehensive range of services empowers us to efficiently meet the diverse needs of our community, providing essential septic and potable water services at affordable costs for both residential customers and local businesses.

Meet the Team
Butler Ridge is proud to have a team of qualified expectational personnel at our local Hudson’s Hope office and various field locations throughout Northern BC.

Our team:
Mike Ryder (Vice President/General Manager)
Mike spent the first 20 years working in progressively more responsible roles in Municipal Government and Emergency Management and has been involved in oil & gas since 2011. He has been employed by Butler Ridge since January 2020.
Mike and Donna lived in Hudson’s Hope for 5 years and their children Shelanda and Sean attended school here. The family made many great friendships in Hudson’s Hope that will last a lifetime. Donna and Mike celebrated 35 years of marriage in 2024, and our now grown kids have given us 6 wonderful grandchildren.

Kelly Silk (Office manager/Controller)
Kelly has been with Butler Ridge for 7 years. Kelly has Lived in HH since 2015, she previously lived in the lower mainland for 10 years. Kelly is originally from England immigrating to Canada in 2006. Kelly is married to Derrick and between them they have 3 sons, one grandson and another grandbaby on the way. Kelly brings a great deal of accounting and management experience from several industries to Butler Ridge.
Laurie Adams (Shop/Rental Manager)
Laurie has been with Butler Ridge for 3 years now. Laurie and His wife Pam have been married for 26 years and have 3 kids and 7 grandchildren they have been in the Hudson’s Hope area for 30 years. Laurie brings a grate level of experience in equipment operation and oil and gas having been around heavy industrial equipment for over 30 years.
Paul Dupuis (Warehouse and Rental Specialist)
Paul has been with Butler Ridge for 13 years now. Paul and his wife have been married for 30 years and have 2 sons and 1 grand child. Paul brings over 30 years of industrial and oil and gas experience to Butler Ridge as well and has worked in the local area most of his life.
Richard Abbott ( HSE Manager)
Richard has been with Butler Ridge for 13 years. Richard began his Reforestation and Wildland Firefighting career in 1983, swiftly developed into an ownership role at Seneca Enterprises Ltd., where he acquired extensive experience in Management, Supervision and Safety. Richard and his wife Kris have been married for 19 years and have 1 son. Richard and his family have lived and worked in Northern BC. Their whole lives.
Pam Adams (Office Administration)
Pam has been with Butler Ridge for 2 years now. Pam and her family of 3 kids and 7 grandchildren and have been in the Hudson’s Hope area for 30 years. Pam brings a wealth of experience and knowledge the industrial and construction industries.
Chris Rothwell (Operations/Logistics Management)
Chris Has been with butler Ridge for 3 years. Chris and his wife of 25 years have 2 children a daughter and a son. Long time residents of the Okanagan, Chris has commuted back and forth to the northern peace area for 17 years. Chris brings over 30 years experience in transportation/logistics/water management to Butler Ridge.
Our Field Staff:
We have several people in the field daily, some of those have been with Butler Ridge since 2011 When Richard Brown started Butler Ridge. Some of our team members in the field are Sean McCurdy (13 years), Brent Vanderhoeven (13 years), Tyler Steele (Field Superintendent 4 years), Brady Gallant (Senior Picker Operator 5 years), Lance Bazian (18 years oil and gas), Joe Sebastien (Supervisor), Kyle Wells (Supervisor), Rob Day (Supervisor), John King (Several Years Oil and Gas), Nic Eyles, Toni Atkinson, Nick Sadick, Trevor Stutt, along with several other field staff that are an integral part of our team.
