Established in 2001, the Hudson’s Hope Thrift Store and Laundromat are operated by the Friends of Hudson’s Hope Society. This grassroots, community-driven charity organization is built upon a simple idea “You Are Never Alone”. It is dedicated to uplifting the community and one of the ways it fulfils this mission through the operation of the Thrift Store and Laundromat.

The Thrift Store offers a wide array of donated items, including clothing, books, kitchenware, games, puzzles, and toys-essentially everything one might find in a typical household. With new donations being put out daily, shoppers are sure to uncover unique treasures with each visit.

The Laundromat is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing customers with the convenience to do their laundry at their own pace. Coin access is available at the Thrift Store during operating hours and at Marg’s Mini Mart. The Laundromat features a public restroom, which is open during Thrift Store opening hours, for added convenience.

In addition to these services, the Friends of Hudson’s Hope Society runs a year-round food bank and a new “Little Free Pantry” program which is located in the laundromat. The pantry operates on a “give what you can, take what you need” principle, encouraging community members to contribute as they are able while also providing essential items to those in need.

The Hudson’s Hope Thrift Store and Laundromat serve as vital resources in the community, promoting sustainability, support, and compassion for all residents.

Meet The Friends of Hudson's Hope Society

The Friends of Hudson’s Hope is a member led organization which exists to better our community. As a charity, all profits generated from these facilities are reinvested into essential community support services, including travel assistance for medical appointments, the Food Bank, a Medic Aid program, prescription drug assistance, and a Christmas hamper program, among other things.

The Thrift Store is open Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and on Friday’s from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

The thrift store offer regular “Bag Day Sales” where you can fill a bag with clothing and small household items at $10 for a standard bag, and $15 for a large bag. Even when bag day sales are not running, the store works hard to keep our prices low, in line with their mission to ensure that the needs of the community are met.

Tourists visiting Hudson’s Hope often stop by the Thrift Store and consistently praise its cleanliness and organization, highlighting it as a must-visit destination in the community.

The Friends of Hudson’s Hope is a society led by its members, and overseen by a volunteer board of directors appointed by the members, and run by volunteers. Their executive board is currently made up of Luke Hughes-Bunger (President, pictured), Jim Sandford (Vice President), Ruth Hughes-Bunger (Secretary, pictured) and Nancy Smith (treasurer), and are assisted by additional directors Joan Alexander, Julie Biever, Dorothy McConnell, Edna Smith, and Angie Watson, who work tirelessly, alongside our volunteers to ensure these facilities reflect the community’s essence and support its residents. They invite everyone to come and experience all that Hudson’s Hope has to offer. Your support can make a difference; You are never alone!
