At YMCA School Age Care, they are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children in Hudson’s Hope. Recognizing the community’s need for quality childcare, they began operations in January 2024 and have proudly served the local families ever since.

Their program runs from 6:30 AM until school starts and again from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM, offering flexible before and after school care. As a non-profit organization, they are committed to enriching the lives of children and their families.

During the school-age program, children experience a balanced mix of quiet and active play, exciting physical activities, and valuable outdoor time. Nutritious snacks are provided, and meaningful connections are fostered with dedicated staff who truly care about each child’s well-being.

In addition to their regular offerings, they also provide care during non-instructional days and school breaks. This summer, they were thrilled to partner with the local Museum and Library to offer field trips and engaging off-site activities that broaden children’s horizons.

Families are invited to join YMCA School Age Care, where the joy and growth of each child are top priorities!

Meet the Teachers: Mayel, Palwinder, and Anna

Mayel:

With 2 years of experience as an Early Childhood Educator and 6 years as a primary and high school teacher, Mayel Anne Araneta is passionate about creating environments where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. Currently based in Hudson’s Hope, Mayel Anne is committed to fostering a love of learning in the critical early years, believing that these formative moments shape a child’s lifelong curiosity and success.

By blending her diverse teaching experience with a focus on individualized care, she strives to meet each child’s unique needs, ensuring they grow both academically and emotionally. With a nurturing approach, she focuses on building strong relationships, creating a sense of security and trust, so children feel empowered to explore, ask questions, and develop at their own pace.

With both Ontario and BC ECE licenses, she excels in creating inclusive and developmentally appropriate learning environments that support the individual needs of each child.
