Hudson’s Hope Museum
Take a walk through the past, and learn the history of the Peace Valley at the Hudson’s Hope Museum. Guests can interact with displays that trace Hudson’s Hope’s origin back to the dinosaur era, to the establishment of a fur trading post in the early 1800’s, and to its many changes throughout the centuries, including the building of the W.A.C. Bennett Dam in the 1960’s. After your visit, be sure to stop by the museum gift shop where you’ll find an eclectic collection of local arts and crafts, Hudson’s Hope souvenirs and even delicious local canning. In addition to its informative displays and myriad of artifacts, the Hudson’s Hope Museum also offers educational programming for people of all ages.
The Hudson’s Hope Museum is a member of the BC Museums Association and the Canadian Museums Association. The Hudson’s Hope Museum was the recipient of the BC Museums Association Award of Merit in 2009.

Meet Hudson's Hope Historical Society & Museum Manager Elinor Morrissey
The Hudson's Hope Museum is a non-profit organization and is operated by the Hudson's Hope Historical Society. The museum was opened to the public in 1969, coinciding with the completion of the W.A.C. Bennett Dam, one of the highest earth-fill dams in the world. The museum was and continues to be driven by a community volunteer effort. Society members help to make important decisions regarding the museum's continued operation and its many programs. Those operations are carried out largely by volunteers who do everything from archiving to giving guided tours of the museum.
Elinor Morrissey is the museum manager and sees first hand on a regular basis the difference that community volunteers make to the museum. In fact, says Elinor, the people who call Hudson's Hope home are exceptionally friendly and genuinely care about their community. "They are what makes Hudson's Hope."
Elinor's favourite part of her job is being able to help visitors learn something that they might not have known about their town before coming to the museum. She is proud of the high caliber displays that so artfully tell the story of Hudson's Hope's exciting and colourful history.
