Meet Debbie Green
When Debbie Green’s best friend asked her to help out in her restaurant for a month when she was in a pinch, Debbie didn’t hesitate to say “yes”. What she didn’t foresee is that that month would stretch into 18 years and counting. Throughout those years she worked her way up from helping, to managing the restaurant, to leasing it, and then to buying it outright in 2004. It’s practically home now!
Indeed, On the Rim is something of a home away from home. Because of the restaurant, Debbie knows pretty much everyone in town. She has had regulars who have come in daily or weekly for years, and to her they are much more than customers, they are true friends. “We know what is going on in their lives, good or bad,” Debbie says. She is devoted to her business and deeply grateful to her customers for how they have supported her over the years.
Altogether, Debbie has lived in Hudson’s Hope for over 25 years and she feels very comfortable here. “Our kids went from playschool right through to graduation here,” says Debbie. These days, she adds, she likes to spend her time outside of the restaurant with her grand children. As a fan of the outdoors, she enjoys camping and fishing and hanging out at Cameron Lake, something that she has done since her own children were young.
